Why do I play wheelchair basketball?

In my last blog I talked about the struggles of juggling my life between school and basketball. Yes it’s hard, but aren't all dreams hard to accomplish? That’s why it’s so satisfying to achieve your goals in the end. If you get something without work it means nothing. After I finished my last blog I thought that I should probably explain why I do what I do. Why do I play basketball if it’s dangerous and time consuming? I play basketball because it completes my life. I can’t imagine not doing it. I love the thrill of making a shot. The screams of the crowd. The excitement and nerves of game day. I’m super blessed to be playing this game. I get to inspire people. I get to do things that many people wish they could do. I get to travel around the US for free. I get to hang out with my amazing teammates and make new friends. I get to talk to fans and sign my signature on balls or shirts. I get to play at several Spurs halftime shows a year (because they are one of our sponsors). Just writing this gets me excited. It’s so cool I get to do all these amazing things. Yes practice is long and hard. Yes it’s time consuming. Yes i could get injured. All of that doesn’t stop me because the blessing that comes from doing this outweighs the bad easily. I think all these struggles that I have are worth it. I’ve dreamed of doing something like this. It’s a dream come true for me. Every offseason I always wonder when the season is going to start again? To wrap this blog post up, I just want to say don't let obstacles get in the way of your dreams. Dreams take sacrifice, but at the finish line I promise you it’s going to be worth the hard road.
